Getting art class started

Ms. Austen creates videos instructing the class on what they need to do to get class started.   This allows her class to self start while she is working to transition from one class to another.

She has even left videos for teachers to show when they cover her classes. Not only are the videos full of instructions and directions so that everyone is prepared for their tasks -- they are fun, interesting and the kids respond to her on the video when she asked questions... even though they know she couldn't actually hear them.

Using the "Bucket Buddy" system to learn to log on

Mrs. Small's 5th class and Mrs. Thompson's 2nd grade class are "Bucket Buddies". They took filling each other's bucket to a new level when Mrs. Small's class came down to teach their 2nd grade friends how to log on to the computer using the new log on credentials. The 5th grade students walked them through logging on and logging off and then turned the 2nd graders loose to try for themselves. Afterwards, the 5th graders helped navigate their friends through the new website to help them find the link to take an AR test.

Poetry

2nd Grade Poets

Second Grade has been publishing our poetry on the computer. We used word. They typed it, changed the font, and size, and saved it in their folder. We printed and illustrated them. Some are already in the hall to see!

2nd Grade Classes learn to Research Online

As part of learning how to research using online resources, all of 2nd Grade did a class PowerPoint on Cheetahs. It was a great way to learn as a group the process of sifting through information to find what we need to do our reports. The classes did a great job working together and are ready to do some research in groups! As part of the learning process, students learned how to navigate the school and library websites to find our Online Databases and Encyclopedias. Ask a Second Grader how to use PebbleGo, Britannica Encyclopedia and World Book Encyclopedia to conduct Research.

2nd Grade Online Research

All of our Second grade classes learned some key research features. Using our children online encyclopedias listed on our Research Resources, students found answers to their questions. This was a great project covering many of our Technology TEKS as students saved and printed key information as well as recording it.
