Students in 4th grade are researching Lonestar Heros as part of a multi-week project. Students utilized the research function in Google Docs to supplement their research of their person. The Research function allows students to search for information and images and then cites the source for them as a footnote. Several students brought their own device to use in class which helped increase the device to student ratio so that more students could work on their project at school. Students in the Next Gen classroom were able to use their Dell Venue tablets to work on their projects as well.

Getting art class started
Ms. Austen creates videos instructing the class on what they need to do to get class started. This allows her class to self start while she is working to transition from one class to another.
She has even left videos for teachers to show when they cover her classes. Not only are the videos full of instructions and directions so that everyone is prepared for their tasks -- they are fun, interesting and the kids respond to her on the video when she asked questions... even though they know she couldn't actually hear them.

While the teacher was away, students were still able to focus on academics. The teacher video a lesson on how to create a Patty Paper "protractor" and how to use the new tool while she was away from the classroom. This allowed the substitute to pause the video when students needed extra time and to rewind for students to hear the information again using the vocabulary and concepts of the classroom teacher.
