Students working with Edmodo

Students have been enjoying working with Edmodo to complete assignments and projects. Edmodo provides teachers and students a secure place to connect and collaborate, share content and educational applications, and access homework, grades, class discussions and notifications. Here you see students creating a calendar to help pace themselves through an independent study.

Technology as a reading tool

In the Resource classrooms there are some great individualized programs that students can use and set their own pace. Students are motivated by the interactivity of the programs and teachers are able to monitor progress. Students in Ms. Juarez's class have access to books that will read to them to help them with sight words and new vocabulary.

Kindergarten learning about recycling

Preparing for STAAR goes interactive

As classes prepare for the upcoming STAAR Tests, they get interactive with Promethean Boards and Voting Devices.  Here are just a few examples of a 5th Grade Science, 4th and 3rd Grade Math Review Flipcharts.  Using the voting devices is a great way for teachers to get instant feedback on what skills need further review.

At Double File Trail, students are READING! If they read a book associated with Accelerated Reader, they can take an assessment on how well they comprehended the book. If you look on our "For Students" page at http://schools.roundrockisd.org/doublefiletrail/students/students.htm , you can see an up to date widget showing just how many books DFT has read this month, and how many words! How many do you see today?

Activotes for the Whole Class

Mrs. Bridendolph's third grade class was expanding their use of the interactive Promethean Board with the student response systems called Activotes. These devices are a great tool and an easy way to assess and include all of the students throughout the lesson. Miss Hintz went over Cause and Effect with the class to help review the different types of questions we can ask and vote on. Here a student is writing their opinion and the class will vote A for Thumbs up (they agree) or B for thumbs down (disagree). Great news, they all agreed that the causes would make the audience cheer!

Writing in 4th Grade

Mrs. Small’s 4th Grade class have been working on writing and typing skills. Students were able to choose a topic to write factual topic sentences and supporting details about. Additionally they practiced different kinds of leads in each paragraph. In the word processing application, students work on their typing skills, using the shift keys, enter, centering, underlining, etc., as well as copying and pasting images into their documents. A huge thank you one of our WATCH Dogs for helping our class one day running around the room to help our class.
